Judges

We have amazing judges for the contest again this year. They will choose a winner and runner up in each category. There's one panel to review entries to the Open category and another for the Youth category.

Open Category

  • Artur Ekert, Director of the Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore
  • Briane Greene, Professor of Theoretical Physics, Columbia University, best-selling author, and co-founder of the World Science Festival
  • Tania Hershman, Author of short story collection My Mother Was An Upright Piano: Fictions among others
  • Colin Sullivan, Editor, Nature Futures, the award-winning science-fiction column in the science journal Nature
  • JY Yang, Author of the Tensorate series of novellas (Tor, 2017)and a former molecular biologist, journalist and science communicator

  • Mark Alpert, Author, most recently of novel The Silence, completing the Young Adult trilogy that began with The Six and The Silence
  • Greg Dick, Director of Educational Outreach at Canada’s Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics
  • Otto Fong, cartoonist & former Outreach Fellow, Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore
  • Clara Moskowitz, Associate Editor covering space and physics, Scientific American
  • Chad Orzel, Associate Professor at Union College in Schenectady, NY, blogger and author
